A Teacher's Prayer

As we plan for the reopening of schools in our area, there are feelings of excitement, apprehension and the unknown.  We are ALL part of these uncharted waters.  We are sending Administrators, Teachers, Children, and Parents a big “virtual” hug as you navigate Back to School this year. It may look different than what you are used to, but we know that through empathy, kindness, and understanding it will be an amazing year no matter what the format looks like.  This is called a “Teacher’s Prayer” but because so many parents are also teaching their children right now, it is appropriate for all of us!

Teacher’s Prayer
I want to teach my children how
To live this life on earth,
To face its struggles and its strife
And to improve their worth.
Not just the lesson in a book
Or how the rivers flow,
But how to choose the proper path
Wherever they may go.
To understand eternal truth
And know right from wrong,
And gather all the beauty of
A flower and a song.
For if I help the world to grow
In wisdom and in grace,
Then I shall feel that I have won
And I have filled my place.
And so I ask Your guidance, God,
That I may do my part,
For character and confidence
And happiness of heart.
