Pilgrimages

A Pilgrimage through America’s Civil Rights:
Past, Present, & Future

April 2026

In late April of 2026, we will host a Civil Rights Pilgrimage in the American South. Our focus will be on religious and historical sites including museums, churches, and notable landmarks. We will learn, lament, celebrate, and grow in faith and civic responsibility as we reflect on the past and embrace the challenges of the ongoing work for civil rights today. More details about the trip will be announced in the Spring of 2025.

Sometimes we need to step away from our everyday life and seek God’s presence in a deliberate way. Pilgrims have been walking the Camino de Santiago for more than 1000 years, seeking to commune with the divine. Today, pilgrims still trace these routes to connect with God. This 13-day journey offers participants the opportunity to walk over 140 km of the Camino de Santiago with a group of pilgrims from Pinnacle Presbyterian Church. The coastal route offers a convergence of solitude, rugged coastal beauty, and charming seaside villages. For each walking day, luggage transport is included so pilgrims can walk with only a daypack. Breakfast is included daily, along with seven dinners. This trip is a not-to-be-missed adventure for those who seek a workout for the body, soul, and mind. The schedule may be adjusted for efficiency and guide availability.

Join Rev. Dr. Mike Hegeman as our scriptural guide and interpreter for a once-in-a-lifetime 13-day pilgrimage tracing the footsteps of the Apostle Paul in Greece and Turkey. The trip will include visits to Athens, Corinth, Philippi, and Thessaloniki in Greece. Along the way, you’ll marvel at the Byzantine monasteries perched on the cliffs of Meteora. In Turkey, visit Ephesus (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Pergamum, and Smyma - three of the churches of Revelation. Conclude your pilgrimage with two days exploring the wonders of Istanbul including Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, spice market, and a “whirling dervish” performance. Throughout the trip, Dr. Hegeman will provide scriptural context and inspirational lectures along with worship services in places where Christians have worshiped since the beginning of our faith. The schedule may be adjusted for efficiency and guide availability.

Choral & Historical Pilgrimage
in Scotland

June 2026

In June of 2026, we are thrilled to return to our Presbyterian roots in Scotland. This Scottish heritage pilgrimage will include time in the “thin-space” of the Iona Community where it is believed that we’re just a wee bit closer to heaven. Additionally, we will be forming a pilgrims choir, directed by our own Dr. Ilona Kubiaczyk-Adler which will rehearse before and during the trip and perform in Scotland. From Scottsdale to Scotland, this pilgrimage will provide a spiritual journey through music, culture, and history. More details about the trip, including specific dates, will be announced in early 2025.
