James encourages us to turn our beliefs into action and live our lives in such a way that we reflect a genuine faith that demonstrates spiritual fruitfulness.  He offers practical advice on issues such as perseverance in trials, patience, wisdom, the tongue, and prayer that help us become “doers of the word, and not hearers only.” (James 1:22)
