Project: FAITH

Sanctuary Room 2
with Dr. Michael Hegeman

World Christianities: Each week we will explore the different ways that the Christian faith has taken shape and flourished among the world’s cultures and peoples. Encountering the faith of Christians of different cultures teaches about our own embrace of faith and how our culture has shaped the way we see Jesus and his Church.

Week 4: Christianity in India
Today only about 2% of India’s population is Christian, even though the faith of Jesus came to India’s shore as early perhaps as the second century.  The ancient Syrian Orthodox Church, alleged to have been founded by St. Thomas himself, exists alongside Hindus and Muslims, and “newer” forms of Christianity.  India’s Christians today offer a profound sense of devotion to Jesus and his way of love.
