Lenten Learning - The Symbols of Lent

  • Pinnacle Presbyterian Church 25150 North Pima Road Scottsdale, AZ, 85255 United States (map)

Wednesdays, Feb. 14 – Mar. 20 | 5:30 – 6:15 pm | Chapel Library

Join us for a Lenten journey through reflective symbols that ultimately lead to Jesus’ death on the cross. This journey is not meant to be a solitary excursion into oneself, but a long walk with good companions along the way of the cross. This journey is hard, but with faithful friends, we’ll dive deeply into the uncommon grace of the mysterious gifts of the Lenten season.

2/21 – Nails
Jesus took away the debt ascribed to us, nailing it to the cross. - Colossians 2:14

2/28 – Crown of Thorns
And the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and put a purple robe on him. – John 19:2

3/6 – Purple
And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple cloak from him and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him. – Mark 15:20

3/13 – Cross
And Jesus cried out with a loud voice and breathed his last. – Mark 15:37

3/20 – Palms
They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the King of Israel! – John 12:1
