Open Dialogue
Join Sergio Mazza, CEO of SurgInsite and Executive Director of the Dialogue Institute in Philadelphia, PA and the Park Center! The presentation will be on "Open Dialogue":
1) Open to "the other"
2) Practice Commonality
3) Engage Differences
4) Navigate New Horizons for Action
The Dialogue Institute leads and sustains a movement of inter-religious and inter-cultural dialogue within an academic setting and on a global scale. It draws its energy from intellectual inquiry, critical thinking and open exchange, enjoying its unique position on the urban campus of a secular public university, Temple University.
The DI teaches the skills of critical thinking and deep dialogue that develops the capacity to reconcile differences, such that a healthy civic society can create a quality of life for all citizens in a community, through both political and non-political processes.
Sergio Mazza will join the Fran Park Center for Faith and Life to add to our continuing conversations on dialogue. Mr. Mazza has lived in seven different countries, worked in five of those, traveled to over 40 countries and speaks four languages. He has a BS in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an MA in Religion from Hartford Seminary. He has stories, principals and advice to share with us about the art of... Open Dialogue! Join us, friends.
Which is more truthful: faith or science? On its face, this question presents a false choice. Science and faith belong to two separate realms. Both express deep truths about existence, but in very different ways. Science uses the symbolic form of mathematical equations to describe the mechanics of reality. Christian Faith uses the written word, the Bible, to depict the human condition and our relationship to God. The Fran Park Center for Faith and Life welcomes all who wish to participate in an open roundtable to discuss various current topics of faith and science.
