Echoes (of the Word)

Thankfulness begets Joy!

On Thanksgiving morning, one of my mom's best friends sent me a much-needed text message.  It was her daily devotion and scripture from Psalm 126:2-3:

“We were filled with laughter, and we sang for joy.  And the other nations said, “What amazing things the Lord has done for them.”  Yes, the Lord has done amazing things for us!  What joy!”

My family has had 4 high school graduates in 5 years and we take full advantage of snapping some family photos during our senior photo shoot.  This is the latest, and I wanted to share with you, my Pinnacle family.  Emily, to my left, is 18 and graduating from Desert Mountain High School in May.  To her left is Ellie, our oldest, a senior at Concordia University Nebraska.  Next is Ethan, a junior at Missouri State University.  And on the end is Eli, a freshman at Nebraska Wesleyan University.  And, my amazing husband Scott is to my right.

I’m a little stuck in grief.  I’m a little less joyful than normal.  My mom is gone and I miss her every, single, day.  But  “Thankfulness begets joy” is my new mantra!  I’m so incredibly grateful for my fun, exciting, heartfelt, and joyful career.  I have an amazing family, and I’m so thankful.

This Holiday Season, I’m right alongside you.  I have pain, but I also have joy.  I know that each day will be easier and easier, and I hope you will look at this photo and be reminded of your favorite family photo.  Even if someone is missing, let’s be overwhelmed with thankfulness, together.

Peace, love, and abounding Christmas blessings to you ~
