Hózhó - Beauty and Balance with Crista Miller
Gramophone magazine praised Crista Miller for her "effortless virtuosity and musical intelligence." International concert artist and Director of Music at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Houston, Miller will deliver a program inspired by the Native American motifs found in the carvings of the Richards & Fowkes organ at Pinnacle. Works of Brenda Portman, Jessica French, and Naji Hakim explore stories from the four Gospels, represented by the four gilded circles in the organ facade. Works of Native American composers Louis Ballard and Connor Chee explore the Hopi legend of Koshare and the Diné (Navajo) concept of Hózhó, beauty, and balance. The classical European structure of this organ will be manifested through J. S. Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in D Major BWV 532 and Christa Rakich’s Hommage à Bach.
